We first meet Petra Larson working in a lettings agency. (The Ice Queen.) She has a new boss Jerry Byrne and romance is about to burst into full bloom when an event in her life tears that asunder and later exposes a highly lucrative secret life which explains how she can afford a home even a film star would dream of owning. After this exposure all that is left is to gain revenge on the man she blames for a brutal and sadistic attack. When everything is torn asunder in an event of religious hatred, Petra has no other option but to flee to the sanctuary of a woman she knew from her earlier sporting career.
Sneaking back from Boston USA, after a period of mourning, (The Choice) she arrives in the rural setting of the Nortb Yorkshire Moors. There she invites notoriety by engaging in some extraordinary activities and she is brought to her senses when she meets a strange woman with an impressive name. Petra prefers to call her Bunty. She is reunited with what can only be described as an ex-client, but she also meets a young admirer in her late teens. Following a huge fire, which has tragic consequences, Petra has to make a choice, one with far reaching impacts.
The fourth book (The Letters) introduces Jaz Crealey, who recognising a woman with suicide on her mind, meets Petra Larson at the end of a railway platform where a life and death struggle takes place as a freight train approaches. Petra hasn’t written a suicide letter. In fact, she wrote nine and Jaz, a trained counsellor, has a unique opportunity to work through Petra’s life using the letters, never expecting to be working with their author. Unfortunately, for Petra anyway, Jaz also has a past and when Petra is attacked and left for dead, a new troubling mystery emerges which is finally solved with typical violent brutality.
Then in the final book, (Resurrection) an amazing event occurs one night along an exposed and deserted beach. This creates a further chain of events where it is hard to keep pace with unfolding events. In the balance is Petra’s long-term happiness, and when what had been a short-lived romance with a much younger woman had foundered, is it possible a brilliant young artist could be her possible saviour.
